Suppose I have a VAX supporting twenty users - how much extra overhead is imposed by talking X instead of async. serial? Has anyone compared the per user cost of Visual 640 XDS + VAX versus Sun workstations (including file servers)? I'm trying to collect information to be used as input for our computer center, which is planning for an upgrade to its computing systems. I'd like to gather anecdotal or qualitative data that can help the center choose between centralized computing/terminal and workstations. - Ralph Droms Bucknell University Lewisburg, PA 17837 droms@sol.bucknell.edu droms@bknlvms.bitnet (717) 524-1145
