If you really want a "book", get the Digital Press book, "X Window System: C Library and Protocol Reference". If you want essentially equivalent source, look in the source documention in the MIT R3 distribution. So far, I've seen TCP/IP, DECNet, and SLIP (Serial IP I assume). What others exist? CHAOS. I'm not aware of X.25 or OSI implementations.
