CS Dept, Ithaca NY Lines: 20 Summary: I am running gnuemacs 18.52 under X10, on an HP-UX 825 system. Gnuemacs is talking directy to the X server. Sometimes the refresh of the window is really fast (i.e. less than 1 second), other times it slowly rolls down the screen (about 4 seconds). Has anybody observered this behavior? Does anybody know a fix? It looks like something in the communication between X and gnuemacs is causing much slower transmission, or maybe more overhead with each transmission. Typically, if I do xinit gnuemacs I get fast refresh, but if I start gnuemacs along with my other normal windows, I get slow refresh, even if I kill all other windows, just leaving gnuemacs. Any clues?? David Baraff deb@svax.cs.cornell.edu
