Does anybody know of a way to connect to a remote emacs server?

When working under X windows I usually have emacs running on a (more powerful)
remote machine. However, the emacsclient does not seem to be able to connect to
the emacs process when running on a different computer (even if the home
directories on both machines are the same). Does anybody know of a solution?
