(Or at least some kind of warning that one might run into problems.) The `grep' in my path was GNU grep, and that treats grep 'T __initialize_' differently from /bin/grep. (This is probably a bug in GNU grep, but nevertheless...) Also, the .gdbinit in the source directory tries to set a breakpoint at the function `fatal', which isn't defined, at least for a Sun 3.
