While we're bitching about the contents of the uucp logs, let me add my 
complaint.  I've had some trouble with modems and phones lines, and a 
h*** of a time figuring out what was going on, because uucp only logs
the device used on a SUCCESSFULL connection.  If the connection fails,
I have no idea which line was used.  I figured out I had a modem configured
incorrectly by noticing I never had a successful outgoing session logged
for that line.
