- Bird Island Basin in Padre Island National Seashore for shorebirds
- drive the beach from the National Seashore north to the Bob Hall
  fishing pier for terns and shorebirds
- roads on Padre and Mustang Islands for shorebirds and waders
- causeway between Flour Bluff and Padre Island for pelicans and waders
- keep your eyes open for peregrines and other hawks
- Port Aransas ferry crossing for porpoises
- Aransas National Wildlife Refuge for winter Whooping Cranes (we didn't
  see any; it was a long, disappointing trip from Corpus)
