After trying u16 on various files, I discovered it does not correctly
uncompress 12-bit compressed files (works fine for 13-16 bits).  This
is not a complaint - I am just curious if anyone else experienced this
behavior?  (I know, why 12 bits.  Our 11/70 has many files stored
compressed with 12 bit coding - the best the poor beast can handle in a
64K data space :-()
