Whats happening is that connection is made fine, initial protocol exchanges are done, file names to be sent are exchanged, directories are made, ... then while waiting for the first packet, uucp says 'alarm 1', 'alarm 2', etc. all the way to 'alarm 10', then quits. I'm baffled. Since control data is exchanged, I assume that errors aren't timing it out. Also, this has happened every time - except for once. That time, the first file made it across, then it timed out. Cu works fine, with ~%take/put as well. Since the exchange works like a champ using 1200 baud (it's timing out at 2400baud), I assume that uucp is set up ok. I'm using the same setup for the Telebits as was posted awhile ago to comp.dcom.modems for Microport SysV. I haven't had the opportunity yet to have tried this using PEP mode. CAbling to the modem is *not* done according to Telebits: Signal Comp Modem TxD 2 3 Rxd 3 2 RTS 4 5 CTS 5 4 DSR 6 20 SG 7 7 CD 8 8 DTR 20 20 The reason that it's different, is that this is the hardware manufacturers (Plexus P-60 w/ICP ports) recommendation for modem cabling. I'm not familiar enough with RS-232 requirements to say if it's right or not. Any help you can give would be appreciated! Please e-mail to ihnp4!csun!csusac!fenris instead of the above address.
