Perhaps not. At some point we reach the perceptual bandwidth of the human visual system and don't have to compute everything. Just compute more wisely. There are tradeoffs in spatial, color, and temporal resolution. Flight simulator people take advantage of these and compute very realistic motion pictures these days.
