Actually, although it's immediacy is uncertain now that Apple has bought
Coral Software, such a facility was being worked on for the 1.3 release
of Allegro Common Lisp; so, if that's what you have, and can wait approx.
1 to 3 months, and it really is included, it may suffice for what you want.
