This *really* can't be true. I understand you have /dev/hd1 and /dev/hd2 for TOS and hd3, hd4 for MINIX. But, how do you load the RAM disk, or are you using a patched MINIX version that has its root filesystem on hard disk ?? My situation is this: SH205: (same for SH204) /dev/hd1 TOS 3 Mb /dev/hd2 MINIX 2 Mb / root filesystem /dev/hd3 MINIX 10 Mb /usr usr filesystem /dev/hd4 MINIX 5 Mb /tmp temporaries I don't use RAM disk. It's no problem to access /dev/fd0 and/or /dev/dd0. Don't you forget to mount them ??? Use the right type fd0 / dd0 ???? > I noticed the boot block of the hard disk partition was zeroed by an unknown > cause, so I couldn't access it with any TOS hard disk utility as well. Which is fully correct, compare it to the UNIX filesystem: block 0 - boot block block 1 - superblock etc Since this partition is surely not a boot device, the boot block is unused and therefore zeroed. Check the source of mkfs and you'll see. > The only I could think of was to make a backup of my TOS partitions, > reformat the hard disk, restore my TOS partitions, and try to make a minix > filesystem again. Both partitions > can be accessed from TOS, so that rules out hardware errors. All special devices in /dev set up correctly ??? Hard disk partitioned correct using TOS utility ??? Correct sizes of partitions ???? Well, that's all I can come up with right now. I've experience with both SH204 and SH205. A colleague of me uses a Megafile 60 partially for MINIX.
