I finally got around to installing Bruce Evans' tty handler.
It solves the two main problems with the official 1.3
handler on serial ports (held up characters if two ports
interrupt at the same time, and the fs deadlock problem).

THANK-YOU BRUCE, (will discuss a couple of minor points
with you privately).
