Hey!  What about the STRU PAGE suggestion copied below?  Can someone
explain why it is not an adaquate soultion to the problem?

  Dale Moore & Co at CMU have done this with CMU/TEK FTP. They use 
  STRU PAGE to accomplish the same thing between two machines using 
  CMU FTP. You might want to talk to him about it and find out the
