So I thought I'd "fix" it: I noticed that when I call more from CLI, it uses the _current_ window and does just what I want. So I've been fruitlessly fighting with Xicon to make the 'right' thing happen. Perhaps someone could help point me in the right direction: Rather than making this note real long and describing all the things I"ve tried that DIDN'T work, let me make it simple: what *will* work? I can get Xicon to whip up a full-sized window, no sweat, but I can't convince 'more' to USE it -- more always just pops up one of its @#$%@#$% half-high windows. Where I'm at: a) I thought it would be REAL elegant to do this whole thing from the *icon* --- it strikes me as enough to have the .info sitting along side the real file, having a .script, too, felt a bit inelegant. b) I'm using more, instead of less (which does NOT have the 200line window bug), because I've played some with it and had no trouble at all making it guru my machine, and I just can't get by with a "tool" that I need 50 times a day being that fragile. [dunno where I got my copy --- but if you think you have a version that REALLY works, that'd fix my problem, too, I guess!] c) I'm using Xicon instead of Iconx (although I think they are essentially the same program) because Iconx seems to be a bit underdocumented. (either it is a different program, and doesn't have all the Xicon features, or else it DOES have them, but all undocumented (like the 'hidden' commands in FastFonts). In either case, Xicon seemed like the more prudent choice. My real goal, naive fool that I am, when I started was simply to make disksalv.info be a project icon running Xicon, with: MODE=nosctip|nowindow CMD=c:more
