First, you won't need to buy anything if you have an APPLE 5 1/4" (as opposed to an Apple UNIDISK 5 1/4") drive and an APPLE 3 1/2" drive. The 5 1/4" should just plug in to the port on the back of the 3 1/2" drive. (IN THAT ORDER - the first drive plugged in to the computer must be the 3 1/2".) If this all goes well, the card in slot 6 can be removed. I know that programs will still find your 5 1/4" as in being in "slot 6", but I don't know if you can then put a different card in slot 6. If all this didn't work (i.e. the plug on the 5 1/4" doesn't fit in the back of the 3 1/2"), then I can't help you, since I don't know if that adaptor cable exists. As far as advantages, I don't see any advantage to changing your system over unless you really want to put something else in slot 6. It's not faster or anything like that. The only disadvantage to daisychaining is that the more drives you have in a chain, like in excess of 4, you could run a problem with getting power to the drive out at the end. Each drive takes some power, and after 4 or 5, the last drive (or those past 4) may have power problems. I hope this helps. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Todd Davis University of Computer Engineering Student I L L I I Familiar with I I L L L L NN NN OOO I S Apple ][,//e,//c I I L L L L I N N N O OOOII I S S IBM-PC XT I I L L II N N N O O I S S III IILL LLL LLII IINN N NNNOOOOO IISSSSSSS ARPANet: trd10523@uxa.cso.uiuc.edu at Urbana-Champaign
