Sure there are times (at least for me) when multitasking would be worth a 10% decrease in performance, however, more often do I want that extra oomf than being able to do whatever while the computer looks something up. I usually am only doing one thing at a time. I am maybe writing a report for school, programming, or playing with the Cyber stuff and there is no need for multitasking there--but there is a need for speed. Sometimes I'll forget to do something say run something off on the printer before I go to class--because of the ST's speed I can boot from a floppy, load my word processor, print my document, and not be late for school!
