They are hot to get a 3B2/500 and another VAR has talked them into getting the 22MHz upgrade to it. My gut feeling is that this is not an efficient use of his $10,000, and getting one of the multiprocessor enhancements (MPE) is likely to be much more cost-effective. His application is old Informix 3.3 (not SQL) with a zillion users. Questions: [1] how much real difference is there between the 18MHz processor and the 22[.5?] MHz version? [2] how much real difference does one of the MPE units make? [3] which would *you* get? Phone calls are welcome on this, I'm kind of hot to head my customer off at the pass before he makes a mistake.
