   As mentioned in an earlier message, the problem with ZMODEM is that it 
never stops transmitting. The problem with the C64 is that, if a bit arrives 
while the C64 is writing to the disk via the serial port (which will happen, 
since you have to get the data to the disk even though the transmitter never 
shuts up), the NMI code of the RS-232 drivers takes so long to execute that 
the sensitive timing of the serial bus is fouled up, resulting in flase EOI's 
(and of transmission signals) or, worse, lockup.
