IBM AT BIOS ROMS Message-ID: <370.23E1114A@busker.FIDONET.ORG> Date: 27 Jan 89 18:38:59 GMT Organization: Busker's Boneyard; Portland, OR (503)771-4773 Lines: 23 I have an original IBM AT with BIOS ROMS Copyright 1984. I have recently purchased a software package (VEDIT) which does not operate properly on my computer due to (according to the software manufacturer) a bug in the way my BIOS handles the keyboard. The software manufacturer recommended getting a newer BIOS from IBM, either from an AT model 339 or possibly just an AT with something newer than a 1984 BIOS. I have called every IBM dealer in town and IBM direct and have heard over and over that IBM will not sell me a BIOS unless I get my motherboard swapped for $3000, which is silly. I do not want to use a clone BIOS; I am only interested in a true blue AT BIOS. Does anyone have a BIOS for sale, know where I can get one, or is willing to allow me to copy the BIOS ROMS in his machine? I know that the last request is probably technically software piracy, but I would be happy to pay IBM for the parts if they would sell them to me. Please contact me if you can help - the best way is voice at (503) 692-5778 but I will try to claim any mail sent - my Usenet access is limited. -- Howard Spindel - via FidoNet node 1:105/14 UUCP: ...!{uunet!oresoft, tektronix!reed}!busker!Howard.Spindel ARPA: Howard.Spindel@busker.FIDONET.ORG
