Open your system (or copy thereof) with ResEdit. Open the ROV# resources and add to each of them the type FONT and the id 12 (I assume you know how to work with ResEdit TMPL editing). This is all that is necessary to overide the ROM entries for these fonts. I am currently running with the Banana system (does anyone remember that far back?! :-) Chicago font rather than the ROM based one. BTW, the three ROV# resources you will find are for the three different ROMs (+,SE,MAC II) that apple has today.
