After breakfast they had 3 speakers. The first was a developer from the publishers of Fox/Base, who talked about the problems of porting C code from the PC to the Mac. The second was John McEnernery, co-author of Lighspeed Pascal. He spoke about Lightspeed Pascal 2.0 (what else) and how best to use the debugger. The third speaker was Mike Kahl, author of LightspeedC. He showed us some work-in-progress, an Object C extension to LightspeedC. Object C is to C what Object Pascal is to Pascal. It is also a subset of C++, including primarily the class portions of C++. The compiler and debugger were working and he demoed a translation of the LSP Object Draw program. No date was given when it would be available, however. I would guess summer at the earliest, depending on what else they decide to put in. During the question-and-answer period, he also committed to makeing LSC ANSI standard C (with extensions, obviously). -- Jerry Whitnell Several Species of Small Furry jwhitnell@cup.portal.com Animals Gathered Together in a ..!sun!cup.portal.com!jwhitnell Cave and Grooving with a PICT.
