How'd it go? Just popped back in for a quick looksee. Not much has changed. I see that Joe A. is still arguing that atheism is a religion. It's really kind of funny. There was one new issue that grabbed my attention, though: There was a reference to a call for votes for an atheist-issues group. How'd it go? If the matter is still open, I would like to vote in favor. I think there is plenty for us atheists to talk about, including 1. How to make separation of church and state a reality, in the area of taxation, for example; 2. How to deal with the "creation science" issue in public schools; 3. How to make atheism more respectable, particularly in politics; And of course there would be debates with interloping religious folk, just as there are debates with atheists in talk.religion.misc, but that could not be helped. We could encourage followups_to: talk.religion.misc, to keep cross-posting down. If talk.atheism is too specific, how about talk.skeptics? We could discuss all manner of superstition and urban myth: ancient astronauts, the living Elvis, ESP, UFOS, lie-detector tests, crystal healing, astrology. Maybe you don't think one or more of the above is bogus. We could discuss it. It could be great fun, and potentially quite constructive.
