I'm writing a guide to different communications systems availlable in our system and I'll like to write something on our news-system also. I'd appreachiate all answers to the following (maybe silly) questions. 1. What is USENET? I've understood it's a network of all the si- tes that participate and distribute these newsgroups. Should BIT- NET sites that distibute news be counted in? 2. Do you receive any newsgroups originated in BITNET (things li- ke Bitnet.listserv.history)? 3. What other network are connected to the news services (FIDO- NET,...?) 4. I understand you have a voting system for organizing new groups. How many votes are needed? 5. What kind of people are you in USENET? Computer-pros, stu- dents, ...? (are there some surveys?) Thanks in advance! Timo Harmo Faculty of Soc.
