The Boeing B-47 was from start to finish an American design. : :The B-57 saw combat in Viet Nam, while the B-47 was out of service :by that time, being completely replaced by various B-52 variants. The B-47 was still in service at least until 1966, the US involvment with Vietnam started in a major way in 1964. The B-47 was a medium bomber, the B-52 is a heavy bomber and did not replace the B-47. The B-58 was the medium bomber replacement.
