Well, if you are running University INGRES in the first place, you have
already decided that you don't care much about performance.  Since you
now have a faster machine, you are probably still ahead of the game. 
Things might improve with the better compiler, or they might not.

Yes, RT INGRES is available under AIX, I think from IBM.  It is probably
not generally available under BSD.
