We are looking for a good database system to use as part of our
software product on the PC. 

- this could either be a relational dbs or an indexed file access
  method.

- should not be expensive as it has to be included with our product, 
  we like to keep the cost down.

- should not be too large, but should provide all the basic functionality.

We are interested in hearing your experiences and recomendations.
