I am trying to run the "latest" calendar package.

1)	I have placed the code into my .emacs file.
2)	When I run "emacs", I get "Error in init file"
3)	When I run ESC-X calendar, I get
	"Symbols function is void: current-window-configuration"
4)	When I run ESC-X diary, I get
	"Symbols function is void: calendar-current-date"
	
We run GNU Emacs (from Ultrix). Can anyone offer advice on these problems ?
