Message-ID: Date: 3 Feb 89 20:09:55 GMT Sender: news@csd4.milw.wisc.edu Distribution: comp Organization: UW-Milwaukee Computing Services Division Lines: 36 This may be old news, but ... From what I've seen so far it appears that sendmail takes the resulting address from ruleset 0 (mailer, host, address triple) and passes it on to rulesets 2 -> mailer specific -> 4 before using it in the address for the mailer. This is certainly not what the Sendmail Installation Guide would have one believe. For the case of the IPC mailer the ruleset path would look like: from -> 3 -> 0 -> address from -> 2 -> mailer -> 4 -> SMTP RCPT TO: address mailer, host, specific command address triple Can anyone confirm/refute/clarify this? Is this why all of the berkeley supplied .cf files run the address through ruleset 3 in the IPC mailer specific rulsets? And don't do anything in rulesets 1 and 2 ??
