Why would it? If a person has access to the information, as both you and I have, then that information can be either used correctly or misused. There is really no more way to prevent someone sending you a message (which you don't like) via your computer than there is to prevent them dialing your voice phone with a machine and selling you aluminum siding. The solution is the same in both cases: lack of response. Ignore them, and they *will* go away.
