A year ago we also got the tape distribution. The boot part worked fine, but
when the file system was started it crashed due to lack of space. I did not
have the enough time to check the reason and fix it. It could have been that
we had the tape distribution for 4.1 and we had a vax for with 4.2. 

Anyway, my opinion is that the best way to use the mag_tape is to work
with the file system as a remote file server. The students can study the
code and practice with it. The preface of Andy's book explains this better.
