Message-ID: <459@lancia.UUCP> Date: 31 Jan 89 22:53:16 GMT Sender: daemon@ncis.llnl.gov Distribution: inet Organization: The Internet Lines: 23 Approved: post-x400@tis.llnl.gov I'm looking for a way to exchange e-mail between a UNIX System V machine and a DEC uVAX-II running VMS. I'm interrested in both public domain software and products that might be available. I have/can get X.400 mailers on both systems, but the MTA (Mail Transport Agent) appears to be a problem (i.e. UNIX has UUCP and DEC has DECNet). The UNIX host(s) is many miles away from the VMS host, so I can't use TWG TCP/IP as my MTA. I've looked at getting a uVAX running Ultrix to be a mail gateway, but it will cost >> $30K! This seems to be a little expensive for what I want to do. I can easily get a dial-up connection between the 2 points at either 1200 or 2400 baud. X.25 has been suggested as a possible candidate. Has anybody gotten this to work? Mucho Thnkx! Richard A. Karhuse rak@garage.att.com (201) 580-9039
