A uuencoded compressed tar file of the binaries is also available by mail: % mail archive-server@sun.soe.clarkson.edu Subject: send ncsabin.tar.Z.uu (206Kbytes long) Version 2.2C is a highly modified copy of NCSA Telnet version 2.2 It has been recompiled under Turbo C 2.0, supports the Packet Driver interface, 43 Line mode EGA, domain name search paths, BOOTP, connecting to a specified destination port, internal random FTP password, enhanced directory listing under FTP, display clock and a host of other enhancements. *** This is a Beta release, no warranties are expressed or implied *** *** Use at your OWN risk. Neither Clarkson University nor the National *** Center for Supercomputing Applications implies any warrenty or *** fitness for use, etc. This version was developed independently of NCSA, please do not bother them with bug reports or questions (NCSA support of this version may be a future possibility) Plase Send bug reports and/or questions to: bkc@omnigate.clarkson.edu The following files are available: /pub/ncsa2.2c -rw-r--r-- 1 bkc 109755 Feb 3 18:12 PCtelnet2.2c.ascii -rw-r--r-- 1 bkc 47812 Feb 3 18:08 PCtelnet2.2c.ascii.Z -rw-r--r-- 1 bkc 9452 Jan 31 18:56 config.tel -rw-r--r-- 1 bkc 208896 Feb 3 18:13 ncsabin.tar -rw-r--r-- 1 bkc 150264 Feb 3 18:11 ncsabin.tar.Z -rw-r--r-- 1 bkc 988160 Feb 3 19:22 ncsasrc.tar -rw-r--r-- 1 bkc 374373 Feb 3 19:29 ncsasrc.tar.Z -rw-r--r-- 1 bkc 3126 Feb 3 20:04 readme PCtelnet2.2c.ascii.Z You should read this first for a detailed description of changes. This is version 2.2 documentation with margin comments describing the new features. ncsabin.tar.Z contains the binaries for telbin.exe, telpass.exe (ftpbin.exe is not included due to a serious bug) ncsasrc.tar.Z contains all the source (for Turbo C 2.0) config.tel a sample config.tel file (is included in both tar files) readme This file. NOTE!: Both tar files are binary images of the PC source. Thats good for ncsabin.tar, but bad for ncsasrc.tar. If you untar the source on a unix system you'll have to strip off trailing CR's and a ^Z at the end of each file, unless you do a binary copy to your PC. Known bugs: currently ftpbin.exe can not upload to a host w/o crashing. The best new feature in this version is support for the Packet Driver interface (from FTP Software). Some packet drivers are available from grape.ecs.clarkson.edu in the file comm/drivers.arc This version has been tested with the following packet drivers: ni5210 ni5010 3c501 The second best feature is support for BOOTP. This is a method whereby the client PC can get information from a server about its IP address, gateway, nameservers and netmask. You should read RFC1048 for detailed information. I would appreciate comments and bug reports. This version is currently in use at Clarkson University in our public terminal areas (hence Bootp).
