First -- a rock is composed of a collection of minerals. I suspect you want data on minerals. Since there are some thousands the data file is large. But there are some good tables in most mineralogy text books. When I get my books unpacked (just moved) I will be able to give some good references. If you are interested send me mail. That still doesn't make it simple. To understand what I am saying check a set of Dana's out in a good library. Then look at a set of DH&W for the rock forming minerals (silicates). This should fill nearly two feet of shelf. The third volume of Dana's is 3/4 inches thick and only covers quartz (SiO2). -- Thomas P. Mitchell (mitch@sgi.com)
