It can't hurt. I had a similar problem with my 1000, but with the Kickstart. Use one of those 3.5 in floppy diskcleaners with a nonwoven pad in place of the disk. Then run a program like scrub, or cleandrives to spin the disk. I find that I have to clean my drives every few weeks. WRN Dept. of Physics Carnegie Mellon university
