Wolff): : Now, Bill, I have one problem...on a few tries of booting, I got about : 5 tracks into reading my kickstart disk, and then the 'kickstart' screen : would come back up...I tried many different kickstart disks which I knew : worked, and finally one of them worked...hmm...so I turned off the : machine, rebooted, and 1.3 boot worked fine...hmm...I *RARELY* turn off : my machine because I run a BBS, so I wont be testing this out any : further, but I was wondering if you knew of any problems in this area : and could suggest a fix of some sort... Hmmm, I don't have any machines that still use Kickstart, but I imagine I would have heard *lots* about a problems like that! :) There were a few PAs shipped with bad Thompson processor chips (Date codes from 8813 through 8832) and they would show up as 'read/write' errors on floppy drives. That may be what you're experiencing. Take a look at the PA and make sure that you either have a Motorola processor or one of the older (8801, 8805 or 8810) Thompson processors. If you have one of the bad chips, just give us a call for an RMA number. If you have the good processor, and still see the problem, give us a call and we'll try to figure out what else it could be. (BTW, what speed do you have it set up to default to? It might make a difference if you have it in 'forced 14MHz' mode.) : Has anyone else had this problem with the CMI PA board?? Not that I know of... But then I don't do much of the technical support. I leave all that to Lilliane. :) : Thanks, : bob : : -- : -=-=-=- Insert Standard Disclaimer Here, Please... -=-=-=- : : /************* MS-Dos? Me?
