It allows Macs to spool their print files to the Apollo print queue and to use the Apollos as a file server. I have not used it, so I can't tell you how well it works, although I have heard people comment that it does work, but that it is a little kludgey. The interface board plus software was priced in the $1500 range the last time I took a look at it.
