Someone already posted a "How to make your own hard disk" awhile ago, so I'm sending you the file. I think it's more profitable for companies to buy "IBM type" drives, package it in a nice box with controller card and power supply and then sell it for a heftysum (a la First Class Peripherals). Thus I doubt anyone would advertise for the controller and you'd most likely find a host adapter card only at a hard-core computer store.
