I have an Apple II+, IIe, and IIgs. I bought the GS for the same reason everyone else did. For the G & S. I liked the compatibility with the older software also. But I DIDN'T buy it so that I could run IIe/IIc software forever. Where is all of the GS-specific software? You can count the new GS software releases with 1 hand. Oh LOOK, they finally came out with Shadowgate for the GS! Big deal! Almost every software release comes out for the IBM & Mac's & Amigas before (and IF) it ever makes it to the IIgs. I used to be able to get people to buy an Apple. Now, I honestly can't recommend it. The only one I will recommend is the IIc+ or Laser if they want something 'compatible' with the school's hardware. Otherwise I say buy an IBM or Amiga. (Or an Amiga with IBM compatibility) People on the net have said, 'You're just a small group...Apple won't listen.' Well, I say that the average person I know asks ME what kind of computer to buy BECAUSE I am knowledgable about them. So, here I wait for Apple to do SOMETHING. I'm going to go to AppleFest in May, and will decide based on the supposed 'announcement' on what computer I will stick with. (And it will probably be the Amiga...let's go as a group!) kirk@pro-denver.cts.com 'the opinion expressed above is ALPE: tristal mine alone, and subject to change.'
