I have the Compu-Com 2400 baud modem, and I have only had a problem with
one BBS, at Stanford. I suspect the problem is with the BBS, because
I've called all over the country over some pretty noisy lines and have
transfered files with no problems. The modem is quite satisfactory. Their
new ad features another modem for $20 more that automatically matches its
impedence to match the line. I've never needed service, but I've heard that
they give excellent service.
