(Thanks !!) > Hanz Makmur > Rutgers University For question number 1: Here I have installed 4 AppleShare networks (in fact, I got three up and running in one day). I encountered no real problems (except where to put the server so that it wouldn't be disturbed). I did have to use ResEdit to set the {CACHED, SHARED} bit (depending on the version; see the tech note that discusses the switch in versions prior to 1.2B3), just as you did. We can multilaunch as many copies of MacWrite 5.01 as we want. In fact, to test the speed of the network, we went around to all 22 stations and launched each application to test response times. No problems at all. There was one thing that we may have had different: the applications are locked on the fileservers here so that they can not be moved or erased. For number 2: I have installed boards in AT&T PC6300s, Zenith 148s, IBM PS/2 model 30s, and have had no problems with any of the installations. Except for the one that had an older LocalTalk PC card. If you use a card with the old ROMs, running the DA program will lock the machine up, with it beeping every time you hit return. You may want to check to see if any other cards are conflicting with the LocalTalk card (we noticed that our Microsoft Bus Mouse was trying to use the same area that our card wanted to use, so we removed the mouse, since no one used it on the Zenith anyway). I would think that a LocalTalk PC card could be installed in a plain IBM PC but since I have never tried it, I can't be sure.
