The sounds aren't crisp and sharp any more. They sound a bit like a radio whose speaker has been punctured -- it vibrates a little too much. Is this something that's likely to be a physical problem with the speaker? Is it worth getting it fixed? Can the speaker be replaced with a simple part from Radio Shack, the way the fan can? -- Mark H.
