First, outliners. On DOS machines I use PC-Outline, memory-resident, flexible, etc. Could some users of various Mac outliners comment on their preferences? Then, freeform databases. In DOS two that work well are Tornado Notes, which allows you to pump data in without defining fields or records and retrieve it via keywords; also, Instant Recall, which has a much different interface (DOS, remember) but does much the same sorts of things.
