I like to run Red Ryder in the background under Multifinder.  When
something of interest happens, my terminal is beeped.  However, when
I am running Aldus FreeHand in the foreground, it refuses to let
the beeps through.  Why is this, and how can I fix it (if I can fix
it)?

I have tried this with MS Word, SuperPaint, etc., and they all let the
beeps through from Red Ryder.
