If you have a uunet account, you can obtain any files that are advertised for "anonymous FTP" on the Internet. You mail a copy of the announcement to uunet!postmaster; the staff at uunet will ftp the files for you, then queue them up for uucp to your site. I use this option frequently to bring down new GNU software, things from Berkeley, etc. Since much ftp-able stuff is large, having a Telebit modem helps a lot.
