I had unsubscribed when it first went no-digest, resulting in a line like: comp.sys.sun! 1-1734 Later, when I subscribed, I got an extra line like: comp.sys.sun: 1-250 When reading ~/.newsrc, its data structures would be affected last by the second line, but when writing it would update the first line. It always thought I hadn't read anything recently. Fix was (of course) to remove the second line and change the ! to a : in the first. I don't know if it was an accident on my part that caused the duplicate lines or a bug in gnus. I suppose it was an accident, but the duplications should be checked by GNUS. The duplications of newsgroups will be checked properly in the next version of GNUS. However, this change will make reading of the raw startup file (.newsrc) slower.
