When I invoke readnews in gnuemacs (which I assume is what this board is about; please correct me gently if I'm wrong) my .newsrc file gets read, apparently correctly, as I see the familiar names of my favorite groups go flashing by with the correct "last article" numbers, but emacs then informs me that "no news is good news", and won't even let me jump directly to a group. I assume that the cause of the problem is some protection problem, anyone have any suggestions as to where to look first? --mike bergman bergman@m2c.org
