I'm new too, new to Canada and North America for that matter.
Not developed favourite places yet, but somethings i've enjoyed.

I've seen a few live bands here and there. No Blues though.
What seems to be the best idea is to check the listings in the weeklies
(Now, Metropolis to name two), and see who is playing. The Queen street
clubs seem quite good. Toronto bands i've heard (Northern Pikes, Pursuit 
of Happiness) were ok.

Between RPM and the Big Bop i'd choose RPM. Big Bop is too crowded for
my liking. The RPM has a long line-up on the weekend, but a great crowd
makes it worth waiting for.

This is probably my favourite area. 
Vietnamese on Spadina south east of College (Saigon Palace ?).
The best $4.00 lunch you have ever had. Number 30 on the menu a favourite.
Baldwin St. has the best collection of cheap food i've ever seen. Try the
Chinese buns from the the chinese bakery on the north side. At 85 cents each
you get a satisfying lunch with 2, plus a sweet coconut tart-all for ~$3.00.
Moving into the $6-10 scale, Massimo's on College, east of Spadina, has
the best pizza i've had in TO made with fresh spring water.
Mr Greek on Danforth Ave (east of Pape) has great greek Souvlaki special 
for around $8 - and dont order the large, even for me the small is enough.
Hungarian ? Corona on Bloor 3 block east of Spadina. 
Take two friends and get a "wooden plate" again the single ($17), 
dont be fooled. If 3 people finish it you are what we greeks call 
"tough forks"...
There are many, many others but I'm getting carried away already.

And a question from me.
Any plays that are worth seeing in TO ? I like the theatre but i just
dont believe the critics, i'd prefer a first hand opinion from one of you.
