Some interesting restaurant suggestions so far...I'll throw in my 2 cents:

La Maison Benoit on Avenue Road just north of Lawrence is a nice romantic
(although slightly expensive) restaurant with excellent French cuisine.

The lake front down by Sunnyside beach is a nice place for a romantic walk 
late on a clear (Summer) night...
