I think Toronto has a great collection of eateries (challenged only by Washington DC, among the cities i've seen). In any case when i go to Toronto (...i go to play!!...:-) just a take-off...;-)) I expect to spend some decent money in a decent place to eat. So most of my recommendations can be treated as moderate-budget places (will damage anywhere from $10-25 per person depending on what you order). And look up the phone book for street addresses. Hungarian : C`sarda on Bay St. Polish/Czech : The Copper Pot, way down on Queen West Moroccan : The Sultan's Tent on Bay and Yorkville (This is a great place, they have a flat rate 6 course deal $15-$21 depending on the day of the week, unique interior and seating, food is very authentic and great, a typical dinner lasts 2-3 hours, make reservations) Ethiopian : The Queen of Sheba (on Bloor West) Indian : Woodlands on College St. Chinese : Champion House on Dundas Austrian : Hmmm....i forget the name but it is a 30 min drive north-east of Toronto. Look up the Yellow Pages, it is one of the two listed Austrian Restaurants in the area. It is more expensive than the ones above but food is good, lots of venisen dishes Now, i need some info...i normally go to Toronto for a day (i.e. leave buffalo in the morning (like 11-ish) and spend a day and then back late at night. However at times one would like to stay over and spend a weekend...what are the cheapest places??? In the past i have done things like drive out north of toronto to some small town and stay in a motel there....to drive out near a beach and simply crash in the car (only in summer of course). deepak. kumard@gort.cs.buffalo.EDU kumard@sunybcs.BITNET kumard@sunybcs.UUCP Deepak Kumar, Dept. of CS, 226 Bell Hall, SUNY@Buffalo, NY 14260.
